Och Spine at NewYork-Presbyterian at Weill Cornell Medical Center
NYC-MISS is hosted each year at Weill Cornell Medicine Neurosurgery. The course is directed by Roger Härtl, MD, the Hansen-MacDonald Professor of Neurological Surgery and Director of Neurosurgery Spine at Weill Cornell Medicine. He is also the founder and director of Och Spine at NewYork-Presbyterian at the Weill Cornell Medicine Center for Comprehensive Spine Care. His co-director is Luiz Pimenta, MD, PhD, Clinical Director of the Instituto de Patologia da Coluna in Brazil and Associate Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of California San Diego (UCSD).
The NYC-MISS 2025 Summer Master Class, held in collaboration with the Seattle Science Foundation, is a unique hands-on training course focused on minimally invasive tubular microsurgical decompression and dural repair. Limited to 15 participants, this intensive program offers expert-led instruction using real surgical instruments and RealSpine simulation models at Weill Cornell Medicine’s Neurosurgical Innovations and Training Center. Co-directed by Dr. Roger Härtl and Dr. Ibrahim Hussain, and featuring distinguished guest faculty including Dr. Kevin Foley and other leading spine surgeons, this course is designed for residents, fellows, early-career surgeons, and advanced specialists seeking to refine their skills in less invasive spine surgery.
